Tour itinerary

DAY 1 HANOI – BA BE (D)

Morning private pick-up with tour guide from your hotel in Hanoi. Depart for Ba Be national park (240km) with reststop along the way in Thai Nguyen city or in BacKan town.

Arrival in the early afternoon. Check in homestay/hotel. Enjoy dinner with the host and overnight.

DAY 2 BA BE LAKE – BOATING FULLDAY (B,L,D)

Boating from Buoc Lom boat station in 4-km to the park headquarter. Enjoy a motorised boat trip or dugout canoe on Nang river to discover Puong cave, Dau Dang waterfall, Fairy pond, An Ma temple. Enjoy meals of ethnic minorities. Overnight in homestay/hotel.

DAY 3 BA BE – HANOI (B)

You have 1 private motorbike/ 1 person to get around Cho Ra town and Ba Be local market (petrol fee excluded). Easy to intermingle with local people and take photos.
Say goodbye to the host after lunchtime. Land transfer to Hanoi. Arrive at your hotel in Hanoi at around 18:00.

Ba be Lake unique natural fresh water in the world

In 1995, Ba be Lake was considered as one of 20 freshwater lakes which need be protected at the Meeting on the Freshwater Lakes Conference held in the US.

BEFORE TOUR

Ba Be national park is 1 of the 4 RAMSAR sites of Vietnam. The center of the park is Ba Be lake which is often called “the blue mirror of Vietnam Northeast mountainous area”. And the surroundings are great limestone mountains, dense tropical rainforest, rice fields, rivers, waterfalls and caves. Ba Be lake with 500ha, is the largest natural freshwater lake of Vietnam and is home to hundreds species of fish. In 1995, the lake was recognized as one of the 20 special freshwater lakes in the world that need protection.

If you visit Ba Be lake, don’t miss the chance to overnight in wooden house on the side of the lake. It’s very quiet in the night. You can choose overnight in stilt-house (homestay in Pac Ngoi village of Tay hilltribe) or 1-star hotel (in Cho Ra town, 4km from heart of National park). Pac Ngoi, one of the Tay ethnic minority villages with traditional stilt houses, is located near the lake. Many houses in this village offer homestay service.

The road to Ba Be lake is rather nice now, so don’t worried about vertigo. 7-hour driving from Hanoi can make you hesitate but in fact, it’s not too long with 1 reststop and the last 70km lures you by the striking mountain beauty.

1-star hotels offer private rooms but not near from the lake as Pac Ngoi homestay.

AFTER TOUR

You can continue driving up North to Cao Bang province then visiting Ban Gioc waterfall (Ba Be to Cao Bang = 130km, Cao Bang – Ban Gioc = 70km). Stay 1 night in Cao Bang town, then get back to Hanoi on the next day.

There’s no direct local bus connecting Ba Be and Cao Bang. You can rent a motorbike taxi driver “xe om” from Ba Be to Na Phac intersection on National Road 3 “Quoc lo Ba”. From there, you hitchhike the local bus from Hanoi to Cao Bang at its half-way. Anyway, it’s rather complicated and costs much time, so we recommend you book Ban Gioc waterfall – Ba Be national park tour with Vietnam Cheap Packages.
